And so it is with this little party popper I found behind the sofa that I have this pleasant announcement to make.
(Anticlimactic Party Stylings From The UK)
The Trek DH met quorum with 30 total votes. Less the 5 abstentions, there was a net total of 25. The charter requires 50 percent plus 1 to declare a winner, which puts the required number of votes to win at 13. Kos, with 14 out of 25 votes, is the clear winner and our new Star Trek Division Head.
(25 / 2 = 12.5, which makes 13 the simple majority)
The Vice-Chairperson met quorum with 30 total votes as well. Less the 4 abstentions, there was a net total of 26 votes. With the 50%+1 requirement of the charter, the required number of votes to confirm was 14. orionSquared received exactly 14 votes, the bare minimum, and is therefore confirmed as the new Vice-Chairperson.
(26 / 2 = 13, which makes 14 the simple majority)
It was a neck and neck there for a while in the Star Trek Division vote. I was worried we were going to have to get out the spears and have our two contenders duke it out like a Kirk era duel to the death. But democracy prevailed, Kos winning, and we avoided the need for some sort of stone fighting pit…which, ya know, they tell you is a good investment until you never use the dang thing…and then it just fills with moss and algae, and what do you do with that?
What was I saying?
Ah yes! And Orionsquared has been confirmed by the GM Council as the Vice-Chairperson for the duration of my term in the office of Chairperson. I’m sure a lot of you are wondering who this person is, and I can assure you you’ll get to know them better over the coming days as we settle into the sleigh ride into Winter 2020.
We have a lot to look forward to in the 22nd Fleet, we are growing with an ever colourful collection of sims stretching over nearly a dozen genres. But this is only the start I’m sure. Let’s all welcome our new Star Trek Division Head Kos, and the new Vice-Chairperson OrionSquared.
And would anyone like a stone fighting pit? Excellent as a place for the kids to play in the summer as long as you get rid of the sentient moss monster. (Call me. Reasonable offers only.)
