Community Honors and Updates!

Happy May and 2nd Anniversary, 22nd Fleet! I have several announcements for everyone today, ranging from multiple awards to a few changes to our community offerings! Want to know more? Stay tuned to the end of the article!

Let’s begin with the awards. First up, Post of the Month for March 2021! We apologize for the lateness of this vote and results, but we think the wait will have been worth it.

March 2021 Post of the Month

Bronze goes to AlphaJuliet, Kos, & wizardbeard of Memory Theta for “Let Sleeping Vulcans Lie.”

We have a tie for Silver! Congrats to Sjet, Intumesce, AJ, Brianna of Charon’s Opus for “A Line Under It All” and Captain Harvey Geisler & Commander Terry Walsh & Lieutenant Commander Joey Geisler & Lieutenant Commander Gemma Alexander & Lieutenant Commander Arjin Djinx & Lieutenant Avery Stuart Ph.D. & Lieutenant JG Charles McCullen of USS Black Hawk for “A Probing Situation.”

Player Awards

The Protector of Star Wars: Shades of Grey takes home Community Star! From her GM: She has stepped up and gotten SoG posting regularly when I’ve been less available.

Greenfelt gains a Distinguished Service – Bronze award! From the nomination: Greenfelt went out of his way to create a special rank set for use by CGIS. They look wonderful and helped make our unique presence within the fleet stand out even more.

T’Mari Rael of USS Black Hawk. From the GM: T’Mari Rael is a new addition to the Black Hawk, but she is quickly proving herself to be a quality player. The Black Hawk has had a poor history with Counselors, and T’Mari’s own checkered past provides not just a unique flavor, but also a willingness to integrate with the existing crew. All the while, T’Mari is proving to be a valuable addition to the team.

Star Geek of CGIS. From the GM: As one of the most recent members to join CGIS she has presented a fantastic unique character and has successfully introduced their character into the ongoing of our episode as well as their family life.

Once a year, on the fleet’s anniversary, we award the 22nd Fleet Commendation of Excellence. This year’s winner is Greenfelt! From the nomination: Seriously. This guy can’t stay away. Even when he steps down in order to handle real life responsibilities, he’s still pouring into the fleet and keeping it buoyant. Somebody give this man a medal.

Sim of Valor

The Awards Committee has selected Star Trek: M.A.S.H. for this month’s Sim of Valor award. The sim’s writing is excellent, its community robust and enjoyable, and the sim’s unique premise, bouncing off a popular 20th century television show and always standing ready for a medical emergency.

Congratulations to all of the award winners! As always, we are always accepting nominations for Post of the Month and our monthly awards all the time. We’ve already got one nomination for Post of the Month, and it’s a good one. Don’t forget to get your nominations in!

Community Changes

Now, to some changes to our community offerings. Several GMs have been taking a hard look at our current structure and are hard at work at developing a new series of resources for GMs who are struggling, as well as those who are interested in starting a game of their own. More news on that to come.

In the meantime, we’ve noticed some long-standing issues with our website, as well as introducing our organization better to our players.

As of today, those issues are rectified with three new items:

  1. A new home page;
  2. A comprehensive, yet simple, walkthrough on getting started; and
  3. A whole new set of resources for existing GMs. (If you’re not already a GM and logged in to our website, then this link won’t work for you.)

There will be more to come in the next few days. You’ve already seen the first issue of the Tribune, a series of articles that will highlight players and sims in our Fleet, as well as helpful tips, tricks, resources, and other fun things to come.

Thank you all, and I hope you have a great month!
