At its daily press conference this morning, Starfleet Command was forced to admit its latest hair-brained scheme to collaborate outside the Federation is already seemingly doomed.
By way of background, late last year Starfleet announced the formation of the so-called Peregrine Commission as a partnership between the Federation, Klingon Empire, Romulan Star Empire, and Cardassian Union to preserve peace in our area of the galaxy. The irony of the two greatest butchers of recent time being asked to preserve peace was not lost on this reporter. Who would have ever guessed that the those responsible for the genocidal occupation of Bajor, and the Dominion War on one hand, and the paranoid and xenophobic begetters of the Reman Nemesis would doom the project to failure? (For more on the numerous atrocities of the Romulan and Cardassian Governments, see section G).
This morning, Starfleet was seemingly forced to concede failure, when it announced that Ferengi terrorists had launched an attack against the headquarters of this ill-advised experiment with the help of a traitor. Several colonists lost their lives in this brutal and unprovoked attack, and Fleet Admiral James Berman was abducted from the station beneath the nose of the supposedly ‘best and brightest’ Starfleet had to offer. As of writing, Starfleet has refused to identify the traitor, or what steps they are taking recover the Admiral. We can only guess what Starfleet is trying to hide. As always, this is Ivette Moss reporting
Aspersions aside, the Peregrine Commission has suffered a serious setback. Based on Peregrine Station in orbit of the colony of Caelia and the attached USS Pioneer, Star Trek: Peregrine stands as a project that was planned to perpetuate peace that finds itself trying to deal with the chaos of the late 2380s in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. Ferengi Terrorists and stabilizing Romulus are at the top of our priorities for the moment, but there are plenty of others seeking to capitalize on the confusion.
